CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND CARS

LEDUC, ALBERTA  – Southwest of Edmonton, Alberta during the Christmas season, the Leduc West Antique Society is home to the annual Country Lights display.

The Leduc West Antique Society is also home to Canada’s largest collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles.  Longtime RROC Can-Am Prairie Region member Howard Lengert is the caretaker/owner of these vehicles.  On January 2nd, the CanAm Prairie Region held its first official event of 2022.  Lengert opened the doors to the museum for the RROC Night of Lights and Cars.  Outdoor temperatures hovered around minus 23 Celcius (- 9 Fahrenheit) for the Sunday evening get-together.

After enjoying the spectacular Christmas lights display outdoors, RROC members and invited guests warmed-up inside the Hooper Coachbuilders replica building/museum.  The bitterly cold temperatures were quickly forgotten.  There are currently fourteen cars on the museum floor.  Six of the cars are from the 1930’s including a Rolls-Royce Phantom I, Rolls-Royce Phantom II and a Rolls-Royce Phantom III.

The official grand opening of the museum has been delayed numerous times due to Covid-19 and government gathering restrictions.  Lengert and Leduc West Antique Society officials are hopeful the official grand opening can finally take place in the spring.
