COUNTERFEIT CRUISING

EDMONTON, AB – Mark Carney, the former Governor of the Bank of Canada (2008-2013) and Bank of England (2013-2020), was in Edmonton, Alberta on January 16th to formally announce he was running for leadership of the Federal Liberal party.  About an hour before the official press conference, the appearance of a white stretch limousine caused a brief but chaotic scene.  Onlookers thought it was a Rolls-Royce driving into the community center parking lot.  It was definitely not a genuine Rolls-Royce.

Media and members of the public began snapping photos of the ‘kit car’ limousine thinking it was carrying the soon-to-be Liberal Party leader candidate.  The faux Rolls-Royce remained in the parking lot for about 10-minutes.

Nobody departed the vehicle.  The stretch limousine left the community center parking lot leaving many people scratching their heads.  Why was it there?  We’re they pranked?  Was this a photo-op for a local limousine company?  No one knows for sure.  Ironically a nearly identical ‘kit car’ limo was photographed down in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 8th.   At least the limo in Edmonton was a fully functioning vehicle whereas the car down in Las Vegas was experiencing a genuine ‘fail to proceed’ moment.
