PUBLIC DEBUT
CALGARY, ALBERTA (May 18) – Calgary and area members of the RROC Can-Am Prairie Region held their first official Coffee Night of 2022 on Wednesday. It was a special evening for one member in particular. Alan Dixon arrived in his newly restored 1935 Rolls-Royce 20/25 (Windovers). This was his cars maiden trip after a labor intensive four-year restoration.
FIRST CAN-AM COFFEE NIGHT OF 2022 IN CALGARY, ALBERTA
FIRST EVENT FOR DIXONS 1935 ROLLS-ROYCE 20/25
“It hadn’t run in decades,” admits Dixon, “it was pretty complete but it needed a lot of help. Anything that rotated or swiveled just didn’t. Everything was jammed up. But this is what I wanted to do. Take something right down to the frame and do a proper restoration.” Ironically Dixon was not a RROC member when he made this project purchase. “I bought the car first and then figured out that I needed some help.” He quickly became a member of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club. “The restoration was way more than I thought it was going to be.” Several Calgary and area Can-Am Prairie Region members reached out to Dixon to offer assistance.

“A great bunch of guys,” exclaims Dixon, “lots of technical help.” With the four-year restoration complete, it was a nervous debut drive to the first Coffee Night of the year. “When you restore a car from frame-up you always worry about something coming loose but so far so good.” Thanks to some modern improvements, Dixon does consider the car to be better now than when it left the Derby factory back in 1935. “The car has an oil filter in it now. It never came out of the factory with an oil filter.”

Dixon also added one major 21st century convenience to his car. “I’ve put in a little hidden Bluetooth radio. It never had a radio before. I can play 1930’s tunes and the car becomes a time machine. It’s really fun.” Keep an eye out for Dixons 1935 Rolls-Royce 20/25 at future RROC Can-Am Prairie Region events.
