SPRING TEA AND SHOW

EDMONTON, ALBERTA (May 14) – Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners took part in a special event to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.  The annual Spring Tea took place at Government House on Sunday, May 14th.

A total of 11 Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles were on display in front of Government House and its Courtyard in Edmonton, Alberta.  The cars were in place about 30-minutes before the doors officially opened.

Ticket holders to the sold out Spring Tea event were greeted by the sound of a lone bagpiper (Master Corporal Adam Davies) on the side balcony of Government House.  Lifetime RROC member Howard Lengert had the privilege and honor of chauffeuring Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and his honor Dr. Zaheer Lakhani, to the front steps of Government House where the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) honor guard and dignitaries were waiting.

Lengert, Bud Yates, Mel Knight (and their guests) represented the RROC Can-Am Prairie Region at the formal ceremony and tea held on the main floor.  Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners, not part of the official sit down event, had VIP treatment on the third floor of Government House with hot and cold beverages, sandwich’s and cookies.  The Spring Tea featured several speeches by dignitaries including Nathan Cooper, speaker of the Alberta Legislature.

Keri Zwicker added to the atmosphere of the Spring Tea with the selection of music she played on her harp.  The Royal Canadian Artillery Band opened and closed the event with O Canada and God Save the King.

At the conclusion of the Spring Tea, guests were in no rush to head home.  Many immediately struck up conversations with Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners outside.  Plenty of pictures were snapped.
